on the ampatuan endorsement of noynoy aquino : who is the idiot who allowed andal ampatuan jr to hold a press conference?
todate, this is the most bizarre development in this election – the suspected ampatuan clan endorsing noynoy aquino. we think this comes to being a very close second to gloria macapagal arroyo endorsing noynoy aquino. this is evil endorsing good.
this is obviously a staged and planned event. we do not understand how someone who is in jail and specially someone like andal ampatuan who is charged with one of the country’s worst crimes in it’s history can be allowed by the authorities to hold a press conference inside the jail.
the very idea of jailing people is to curtail their freedom. one of the ideas behind jails is you are no longer like other citizens, some of your liberties are taken from you.
the government and the police also made a big deal about the security and risks on the lives of the ampatuans. they take extreme pain and efforts for their security.
given all that, they allowed andal amaptuan jr. to hold a press conference.
we like to know – how did the jail officials figure out, what kind of rational did they use that led them to conclude it is okay for the ampatuans to hold a conference? what value or what positive gain do they think the press conference can achieve for the case, for justice or for the country?
i do not remember seeing a lot of conferences being conducted by any other prisoner in the past.
we think all this is a media stunt and most likely staged by the opponents of noynoy aquino. it’s either the manny villar or the gilbert teodoro campaign who engineered the whole think. for 1 centavo, we think it is the teodoro campaign. there is obviously collusion here.
will this harm the aquino campaign? we do not think so. it is obvious that the aquino campaign never sought the endorsement of the ampatuans. in the first place, we do not think there is a single politician who will ever ask for their endorsement.
it’s best the aquino campaign send out an official statement on the matter and never again mention it. this kind of media stunt is best ignored.
however, the government and the court trying the case should look into the matter and figure out what is it that possessed them to allow this press conference.
For Villar on Thursday, Aquino on Tuesday
MANILA, Philippines—Is sporting orange baller IDs (rubber bracelets) or wearing a yellow T-shirt and flashing the Laban sign an indication of one’s choice of a presidential candidate?
It usually is.
But Andal Ampatuan Jr., accused of carrying out the country’s worst election-related killings, did both in a span of five days.
Orange is the campaign color of Manuel Villar, Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer, while yellow is the color of Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, presidential candidate of the Liberal Party (LP).
On Thursday, the principal suspect in the slaughter of 57 people in Maguindanao, wore two NP ballers at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City where he was transferred from a cell at the National Bureau of Investigation in Manila.
One bore the name of Villar in white letters and the other the name of NP senatorial candidate Gilbert Remulla in orange letters on a purple background. (Remulla is a brother-in-law of Andal’s lawyer, Sigfrid Fortun.)
