why is richard gordon wasting too much time whining?

what is with richard gordon? from out of the blue he joined the presidneital race late. he called attention to himself by charging manny villar bribed him to wuit the race. and now, he plans to sue SWS and Pulse Asia.

gordon is close to the bottom of the presidentiables poll. he does not have much money to air tv ads. all that means is  he has a lot to do to catch up if he wants to win this election. will all this whining get him elected? we don’t think so.

but it will get him some media. and perhaps that is the reason why he is whining a lot about the smallest things about the campaign.  the problem there is he is getting some media of the poor quality type. it is media coverage for a day or two, without legs. more importantly, it is the kind of media that gives out a message that has nothing to do with convincing voters to shift their support on him.

that brings us back  to the question we asked at the start – what is with richard gordon?

You are a marketing website, you won’t understand why he’s doing that.

    • April 20, 2010 at 8:01 am

it’s easy to understand that whatever he is doing, along with the other small minded things he has been doing will not get him elected to the presidency.

perhaps this event demonstrates why gordon is suffering in the polls and why he does not have a chance to win in this election.gordon seem to be obsessed with the tiniest things that give him the tiniest advantage and removing his attention and effort on the most important thing in his career – winning the presidential election.

he seems to be living in a world only he created and only he is an occupant of. nobody really pays attention to gordon. he has also complained the press does not cover his events. he probably does this to get some attention. unfortunately for him and his supporters he does get the attention but it is the type that will not get him elected president.

You don’t get it do you? You still have a close minded opinion or makitid ang pag-iisip. Are you not listening to the interview. Gordon does not subscribe to surveys Pulse & SWS. It make a lot of sense, you don’t pay you’ll be in the bottom survey. You are an advertising company, if you know the law you should follow it. If COMELEC only allows 120min airtime, then the law must be enforced! Kaya walang pag-uunlad ang Pilipinas, walang diciplina. Batas hindi ipinapatupad and the COMELEC themselves does not have the balls to disqualify any candidate who disobeyed the law. Kaya ang kailangan ng bayan ay isang kandidato na may political will. I can only see that with Gordon. Kung naka embed sa utak mo ang mga resulta ng survey, e wag na lang tayong mag-eleksyon. Mag-survey na lang tayo. Ibinenta mo na ring ang iyong pag-iisip dahil sa resulta ng survey. I noticed from your past comments, you seem to disliked Estrada. If the survey says he is the frontrunner, I am sure I will hear many comment from you questioning the credibility of surveys.

gordon’s small minded fights with villar on the bribery try, the survey firms and media will NOT get him elected. voters will alsno NOT like him more than they already do not like him.

all these things that gordon is doing is getting him small media coverages but it is nit at all adding to the already small number of supporters he has. this is not the way to win the election, not even in outer space.

I lost my taste for Gordon. He was high on my list at the start. I don’t think he can turn the tide in his favor. Its back to the drawing board for 2016 for him. Same thing with the other 5 laggards. It would be better for them to just drop out from the race and support a candidate under whose government they can work for in the future. Ang dami kasing don quijote at my messiah complex ng ‘pinas.

      • April 21, 2010 at 10:39 am

That’s why it is called a survey. The few realistically, statistically and meaningfully represents the many. But survey or not, there are other things that made me erase him on my list. Nagbabasa din ito ha, akala mu. Para naman tumaas ang aking existence.

        • April 21, 2010 at 11:38 am

in real life, people do conduct “personal polls” – we do ask others about their choices.

surveys are just scientifically designed and conducted polls with a much larger sample base, similar in a few ways to the personal polls that we all do in real life.

And if there are also 2000 people opposing it? That survey is as good as garbage in a beautifully-wrapped gift box.

Asserting surveys as the voice of the people is a fallacy in itself.

And believing lies doesn’t raise your existence one bit.

As i said, what is the manner by which you get this 2000 people? Is it by random sampling? Of course Gordon would have MORE than 2000 voters in the whole country. But gathering them to oppose the survey of 2000 people randomly selected and to say that they belie the result of the survey is a bit idiotic. But you will not see this very simple logic from your LOFTY EXISTENCE.

            BTW, have you gone out to the streets and conducted a personal survey, R A N D O M L Y?

Why do you see ‘it’ as whining? I think YOU are the one whining here boy.
Surveys are, more often than not, sponsored by well-to-do candidates. So who could say they ARE credible enough? Suing may be the right thing to do since these surveys GREATLY influence the minds of the Filipino people. Some people go by the trend(you seem to fit in this category), depend on surveys and groupthink. They are BLINDSIDED. Surveys seem to be a form a ‘mass hypnotism’ here.

The opinion of 2000 people? Over 40 million? Sorry, but there’s a growing number of people who doesn’t buy that sort of deception and mind conditioning from surveys.

Even someone like Arnold Clavio does not believe in surveys anymore. Only the spin doctors of ABS-CBN, Pulse Asia and other poll companies do.

Any other surveys that do not show Noynoy as winners– they will find holes and discredit that company who did it. It has happened.

pulse asia and sws polls are syndicated polls – anyone can subscribe to their polls. at times individuals or groups ask them to conduct polls for them as well.

nobody is forcing anyone to believe in polls or be influenced by them. all of us have a choice to believe them or not, or be influenced by them or not.

tv advertising is one of the most potent tool to get voters to support a candidate. villar for example was able to catch up with aquino to a statistical tie behind the power of the ads he aired.

among all the candidates, it is probably gordon who understand fully well the power of advertising. he has used advertising to excellent results in the past. the only way he can catch up with the leaders is for him to use mass advertising. but without money, gordon’s chances of winning this election is anywhere from zero to nil.

But they’ll never realistically represent opinion. I can produce another 2000 that favors Gordon, and that will belie their claim. Scientifically done or otherwise, even statistics itself has its flaws and fallacies.

      • April 21, 2010 at 10:49 am

Question is how will you produce the 2000? Will it be by random sampling? Just to engage you, why don’t you go out in the streets and ask 2000 people randomly, see if how many of them will vote for gordon. That should give you a rough estimate. Pero huwag ka lang sa gapo kumuha ng 2000 mu?

It has happened, it was done. But of course certain people will not recognize it because it didn’t produce the results they wanted.

That’s not even the issue of SWS and Pulse Asia having questionable methods of conducting surveys. Excluding certain people from the choice is already flawed, doomed to be untrustworthy.

As if SWS and Pulse Asia had any credibility remaining to begin with.

And yet the media subtly tells us to do so, by always showing these surveys in television and yet not promote critical thinking. Case in point: ABS-CBN and their aborted Harapan debate.

I have not seen you disclaim these survey results and promote people to research about their candidates. There are also growing allegations of survey companies giving only 3-4 choices out of the 9. Plus these survey results aren’t the most transparent in gathering either.

You can say that we don’t have to believe in them, but in your actions and the articles you write, it is glaringly contradicting.

pulse asia and SWS are the most credible polling companies in the country and they strictly follow protocols in their methodologies. the processes they follow are published in their websites and you can always email them for more information if you wish to get more.

i very much believe in research. i have seen how good research help mass consumer brands succeed many times over in many industries in different countries and markets. it is no different in political campaigns. i am on record in this blog on how these things work and the accompanying predictions.

here is the most basic: this election is one for aquino to lose and for villar to win. gordon, teodoro and the others do not have a chance to win this election.

I do not believe in Pulse asia and SWS. I was asked by one of those people, what they said was: Are you for Villar, Aquino or Gordon? I told them: What about yung ibang candidates? They said: Di naman mananalo yun eh. FAIL sila.

Yeah, Gordon keeps on whining about these things, however they are important issues to be addressed. Like how ABS CBN is bias with Noynoy, SWS with Noynoy, and yet they call themselves “credible”. Media really helps in conditioning the mind of the voters, kasi kahit mahihirap, may access sila sa tv/radio. I really do hope Gordon does something about this. Kawawa naman ang ibang candidates.

    Simple.

    1. Mr. Gordon has a point; he is “whining” about issues that SHOULD be addressed.
    2. Contrary to your belief, there actually exists people who do not let their minds be conditioned by the ever-so-biased media nowadays (take the surveys and ABS-CBN, in general)
    3. Mr. Gordon is wasting his time campaigning simply because he is “presidneital” material.

    P.S.
No, he did not join the race late. The other candidates simply campagined TOO early.

the bottom line, because of corruption….at the moment Filipinos who are conducting surveys cannot be trusted. who knows they are just interviewing 9 people not 2000 people as they claimed. Mangahas and Holmes are known supporter of Abnoy and Vil-liar.
