senator nene pimentel dives into a pool of shame and dishonor with “insertion” remark towards mar roxas, takes the senate with him

January 26, 2010 10 comments

we watched with disgust what happened at the senate on the manny villar censure debate on the C-5 controversy. the senators – jamby madrigal, allan peter cayetano and nene pimentel turned the senate floor into a floor of shame and embarrassment when they exchanged trash talk unfit for sennators who were elected by the people. we feel the senate was tainted with shame and dishonor.

we take particular offense on senator pimentel’s bastos remark towards senator mar roxas. we thought pimentel was one of the more respectable senior senators among them. he had always something to say on national issues and often times they were of law and made a lot of sense. but we think this remark of senator pimentel had taken him to dive into a pool of shame and dishonor.

The debate took a turn for the worse when Pimentel used the same word to comment on Sen. Mar Roxas’ defense that he, too, had no insertion in the national budget.

“After your marriage, you will have your insertions,” quipped Pimentel, a rather unsavory remark that drew Roxas’ ire.

“I demand that that be removed from the record!” shouted Roxas. “This is an affront to my wife.”

Roxas was recently married to broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez.

“Then remove it immediately,” retorted Pimentel.

Pimentel apologizes; Roxas gets ice cream, cake

Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas’ remark that it was a pity some men turn vulgar when they grow old may have worked.

On Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr. asked for forgiveness for using “intemperate language” during heated Senate debates on Monday on a resolution seeking to censure Sen. Manuel Villar over alleged “double insertions” in the controversial C-5 road budget.

Pimentel had said Roxas would have his own “insertions” now that he was married.

“To those who I might have hurt in this chamber by the use of intemperate language or unseemly expressions, I apologize and beg their forgiveness from You through You, O Lord,” Pimentel said as he led the chamber in its opening prayer.

mar roxas weds korina sanchez – wedding made in political heaven

October 27, 2009 1 comment

mar roxas is human and married korina sanchez today. he is quite a romantic during the wedding by words  and action.

the wedding is one made in political heaven. it is excellent timing. while we think the timing was meant for his previously announced presidential run, history took over and this is one is just for his vice-presidential run. we will just wait for the first baby for the presidential run after aquino wins the presidency and roxas the vice-presidency.

as a people, we love weddings. i think its second to new born babies.  we think this is a good icing on the cake after roxas’ re-making and recovery during the noynoy aquino will i run for president drama.

we wish the newly weds a life of happiness.

Memo To: Mar Roxas – On Korina Sanchez, Love & Marriage As A Marketing Strategy

May 13, 2009 5 comments

mar roxas and korina sanchez engaged to marry

dear mr. roxas,

we are happy to hear your announcement to marry ms. korina sanchez. we wish you all the best on this one.

the announcement was done very publicly. well, of course we expect it to be that given that you are a senator and ms. sanchez is a popular media practitioner. doing this in any different way seem to be out of character. and yes, there is the 2010 presidential election to which you have set your sights on.

what called our attention to this one is the way it has been publicly done. it was done just like consumer marketing companies do it – it’s like event marketing to us. how else can you explain the fact that korina sanchez even guested at wowowee, the most popular noontime tv show in the country.

it is unmistakable, marrying korina sanchez, love & marriage is a marketing strategy. we have a few points:

  • timing, as in any marketing activity specially of this kind is most important. you want it at just the right time – not too early that it’s impact fizzles out before and not too late that it will no longer have an impact.
  • on this love & marriage marketing strategy, we think your timing was off – it was too early.
  • more importantly, we think it’s the wrong component of the love & marriage marketing strategy that you employed.
  • we think it’s too early as the election is still too far off. as you can see now, it has had minimal impact. it created a bit of a buzz but it was very short-lived.
  • did you actually propose to ms. sanchez? how did you do it? we think you missed out on this component which could have been turned into a much better story. you should have proposed to ms. sanchez in a most romantic way. you missed out on the “kilig” factor had you initiated a very romantic and dramatic proposal.
  • you know have a long engagement – that opens you up to chismis and intrigue from now on. well, that goes for the both of you. the chismis and intrigue is certainly an unwelcome distraction and might bring unwanted issues.

bottom line, we think the love & marriage marketing strategy was ill-conceived, not thought through and poorly executed. sayang!

but all is not lost. it can still be saved. we are prepared to enumerate fresh action steps to revive this marketing strategy and that is the next topic here in 2010 presidentiables.worpdress.

yours truly,
