Doctor accused of leaking Arroyo health file
By Tina Santos
Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines—The physician accused of ordering the opening of President Macapagal-Arroyo’s medical file at Asian Hospital and Medical Center Tuesday denied having done so.

Speaking through her legal counsel, Dr. Maria Niza Bermudez Reyes, an obstetrician-gynecologist who was on duty at the hospital’s Center for Women’s Health (CWH) during the President’s latest confinement there, also blamed the hospital’s “faulty” computer system for the leak on the latter’s breast augmentation procedure in the 1980s.

“The hospital’s computer system is faulty as it doesn’t have a level of security; they do not limit the access of information to specific persons or departments,” said Edwin Lacierda, Reyes’ lawyer and brother-in-law.

Lacierda said doctors at the hospital had “no access to the files or to the computers.”

“They do not have passwords,” he said. “Only the members of the non-medical staff do, and they can open anybody’s files, I mean anybody.”

3 named accused

A source at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) had earlier said three members of the hospital staff, whose statements were taken by the bureau, named Reyes as the one who had ordered them to open Ms Arroyo’s medical file.

on arroyo’s boob job booboo – the heads of the bobo must roll

July 14, 2009 1 comment

first of all, we agree on the action of asian hospital to ask the NBI to find out who squeezed squealed on arroyo’s boob job to the boob tube media. this medical staff of asian hospital who leaked the info on arroyo’s leaking breast implants must be penalized. if the maximum penalty is removal of the license to practice, it must be done.

the fact is this medical staff violated doctor-patient confidentiality. yes arroyo is the president of the country and its citizens need to know the state of the president’s health, but that should come from the president, the patient, not from the doctors. the doctors can only talk about the patient’s health  to media IF the the patient has agreed to it.

that out of the way — why did arroyo’s boob job become such a big issue? it is a very personal and private  matter. it became public only because of that asian hospital medical staff but  it became a controversy only because the malacanang press secretary, cerge remondo screwed it all up.

remonde handled the press briefing where he was asked about arroyo’s boob job in a most unprofessional and most incompetent manner. he should be fired for being so amateurish about it and for getting the president into this tornado of controversy about of all things her boobs.

before going to remonde, there is another person who also needs to be fired.

we think the first person to be fired should be the person who thought of the idea of using the swine flu self-quarantine as the cover to hide arroyo’s check up of the lumps and the leak of her breast implant.

we think the lumps were real. but since arroyo knew she had breast implants, it must have made her wonder if they leaked or if they were causing the lumps.

the lumps were not an issue. lumps on breasts of women are common and should be checked by doctors as soon as possible. but what got them worried was the possibility of the leaking breast implants. they probably thought the public knowing arroyo has breast implants will be scandalous.

the breast implants were the ones  pair they wanted to hide. they saw that as embarrassing to the president. so someone must have devised the plan to tell a lie about the boob-related-breast-implant-too  medical check-up by using the swine flu self quarantine as cover-up.

this person need to be fired from his/her job as that was where it all started. that lie that was devised got them into a string of errors.

press secretary cerge remonde and his boob job booboo

cerge remonde  must have been told only about the lumps on arroyo’s breast and the swine flu cover but he was not told about the breast implants. perhaps, it was judged to be too embarrassing to tell remonde.

not knowing about it explains why remonde reacted the way he did to the direct questions from media on arroyo’s breast implants. he did not know arroyo had breast implants, nobody told him. so when he was asked about them, he defended the honor of his boss by saying the things he did.

he defended his boss by saying in effect he has looked at arroyo’s boobs and they were not at all like the huge boobs of sexy stars. sexy stars have huge boobs because they have breast implants. arroyo’s were not as  big as those of the sexy stars thus as his logic went, arroyo did not have breast implants. he even added arroyo was not that kind of a woman.

defending arroyo and her honor was not his error. his incompetence and unprofessionalism were the errors that came from answering a question from the press  with an answer that he did not know for sure if it was the right answer.

the right answer to that kind of  a question is one that can only come from a medical report or a direct statement from the owner of the boobs in question. he had neither of those. the only thing he had were the times he looked at the boobs of arroyo.

one of the most important principles in Press Conference  101 is – give an answer to the question only if you are sure you have the right answer to it. if you are not sure your answer is correct or that you do not have direct knowledge of it – do not give an answer to the question. tell the press you do not have the facts and that you will get back to them on it. every PR practitioner should know that. it is even taught in schools.

it is a shock that the press secretary of the president of this country forgot that very important principle in Press Conference  101. if you are the press secretary of a president of a country,  being a pro is must. this is incompetence and remonde deserves to be fired from his job.

the other element that has been made obvious is the lack of communication and coordination among the various groups in the presidential staff.

the decision to hide the breast implants was  not relayed to cerge remonde, the press secretary. keeping remonde in the dark, not giving him all the facts yanked  him from the pan into the fire.

also, remonde was obviously not consulted on the decision to hide the breast implants fact. being a press secretary, remonde would have told malacanang to hide something like that is too risky. it is too juicy a news to hide,  that something very controversial like that will eventually find its way out to media.  and that there will be a much bigger damage of malacanang is caught hiding it and lying about it.

a bigger issue for the country is the fact that someone in malacanang who is obviously high up in the ranks think telling a lie is the right thing to do. and that this person thinks they can maintain the lie and hide the truth forever, a thinking that they are above everyone else. how many lies has this person perpetuated?

we think malacanang should have done it this way – call a press briefing and tell the press the truth.

say that arroyo felt lumps on her breasts and that she was worried about them. this worry on these lumps are magnified by the fact that she had breast implants decades ago. the president will check herself in to the hospital to get the lumps and her breast implants checked by doctors. then they should simply say arroyo had breast implants in the 80s due to medical reasons and that the president prefers not to give details on the matter.

they should also say the president encourages all pinays to check their breasts for lumps and to seek medical help if needed.

doing that way removes the spectacle and the controversy. it also makes arroyo very human. asking women to have their breasts checked by doctors also puts her in a very good light among women.

lesson number 1 here : DO NOT TELL A LIE.

Dibdibin natin ang usapan – does arroyo have breast implants or did she have breast augmentation?

July 7, 2009 2 comments

it is a serious question and the answer to which seem to have been lost – did arroyo have breast implants or did she have breast agumentation? in my mind there is a difference – having breast implants may be for medical reasons while breast augmentation is for kalandian vanity.

now, hold on – it might be hard for all of us to accept that a woman such as gloria macapagal arroyo may want bigger breasts or for vanity. i think i speak for most of us when we can’t imagine arroyo getting them so that she can proudly wear bigger bras and deeper necklines. in most of the pictures that we have seen her in, all we see is her face, the neck down is properly covered.

i don’t know about you, but these were my reactions when i read the news that president arroyo had breast implants:

  • breast implants  for gloria who?
  • what breast implants? where? are you sure?
  • hmm…. getting some horizontal extensions to compensate for vertical shortcomings
  • is mike arroyo happy?
  • is that why there is a bounce in her stride?
  • who was the lucky doctor who made them?
  • my eyes!!!!!!
  • i shall never look at a GMA picture the same way i used to

why we care about gloria macapagal arroyo’s breasts, errr breast implants

July 6, 2009 Leave a comment

many things have been said about the flashing revelation that president gloria macapagal arroyo has breasts breast  implants. here are  a few:  “the fake president with fake breasts”; “no sex, just lies, and nor video tape on arroyo’s breasts breast implants”; “ah, so that is why there is a bounce in her walk”, “shake it, shake it”.

but here a few that tries to answer why we care so much about this topic:

As I See It
Arroyo always presents a false front

Filipino gossips have suddenly ceased talking about Hayden Kho and his sex videos and shifted to the breast implants of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. “What’s wrong with the President having had breast implants?” Press Secretary Cerge Remonde asked a day after denying Arroyo had such a breast implant.

Answer: Nothing. So why did Malacañang have to lie about it initially?

The issue is not that Arroyo had a breast implant but that they have to lie about such a simple matter. If you will recall, the Palace announced that the President checked into the Asian Hospital for self-quarantine after arriving from another of her innumerable trips abroad. Yun pala, it was to have a “leaking breast implant” and a lump in the groin looked into. And a day after that report came out, Remonde was all over the media denying it, even showing photographs of a flat-chested Arroyo in a bikini and asking: “Does that look like she had a breast implant?” Before the day was over, a red-faced Remonde had to make an about-face when the Palace itself, realizing that hospitals and clinics have medical records, admitted that, yes, Arroyo had breast implants about 20 years ago.

Poor Remonde. It was not his fault that he was caught telling a lie. The Office of the President told him that the implant yarn was false. The President had lied even to her own press secretary.

Remonde’s plight reminds me of a similar plight of then-Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye during the “Hello Garci” scandal. Bunye had triumphantly appeared on television with tapes of the conversation between Arroyo and Garci and said they were “fake.” Only they were genuine and Bunye was forced to present again another set of tapes. That is the trouble with telling lies; you are caught in the web of your own lies.

But telling lies is common practice in Arroyo’s Malacañang. Remember when she promised she would not run for President again but then not only ran again but also stole the election from Fernando Poe Jr.? Lying is par for the course in Malacañang. Because, as we have seen, the occupant always wants to put up a false front.

Caught lying, but still secretive about health
GOTCHA By Jarius Bondoc Updated July 06, 2009 12:00 AM

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was caught lying as usual. That is the to-do over the true cause of her recent hospitalization. Spokesmen’s obfuscating can’t distract public disgust with her habitual fibbing.

In checking in at the hospital Wednesday dawn, Arroyo made it look like she was self-quarantining upon arrival from abroad. Health authorities had earlier said there was no more need to isolate travelers for A(H1N1), but she was insistent. If she was acting on social duty, it was a farce. Why, she had partied all night Tuesday, bussing pals cheek-to-cheek at a Cabinet man’s wedding anniversary. And when she finally went into hospital at 4 a.m., it wasn’t to avoid spreading virus. She had mainly cosmetic procedures and, adding the Palace’s claim, one gynecological check on the side. The cosmetic job can be called delicate, given that it’s the President going under the knife. She had mammoplastic repair of leaking breast implants done in the 1980s, excision of inguinal (groin) cyst, and laser depilation of unwanted hair in that area and the armpits. Having survived all this, Arroyo saw no more need to self-detain for the prescribed ten days, and groggily checked out at 2 p.m. Thursday.

The chief talker gnashed that “the story is totally absurd … I mean, look at the President if she’s the type who’ll have breast implant like movie stars.” By late afternoon he was eating his words, stammering that Arroyo had just told him she did have implants, so earning the moniker Ab-Cerge. Leave it at that, Lore-Lie butted in, Arroyo had a breast mass taken out and replaced, plus biopsy of a groin lump that turned out benign.

But that’s not the point. They were overemphasizing the President’s privates, yet imputing malice on the press for imagined doing so. Still the issue was why Arroyo hid the real reason for the hospital visit, the same way she made secret a Colombia side trip days before. For that matter, the same way they wrongly invoke privacy about Arroyo’s political plans after 2010 and the facets of her many financial schemes.

The issue is about transparency in public dealings, and telling the truth for a change. They evaded my item on Arroyo’s dysfunctional bleeding mid-last year that necessitated D&C (raspa) and three follow-up checks since Jan. The President’s health is a state concern; she has the duty to disclose, and citizens have the right to know, it. Feigning self-quarantine was devious. They could have announced the biopsy, if true, in a nice way. Example: the White House disclosed all about the removal of Ronald Reagan’s colon polyps. And the Great Communicator endeared himself to the world when, upon hospital discharge, he chuckled that his only distress was “now everyone knows about my internal pipes.” By contrast, it’s hard to pray for speedy recovery of someone you know is fooling you. Or worse, someone who’s inciting a witch hunt at the Asian Hospital for the leaker of her medical info, when the culprit can very well be inside Malac… oops, my lips are sealed.

Arroyo’s hospital stay came at a price to taxpayers. Her bodyguards and cooks took five rooms: P4,000@, or total P20,000 a day. She got two suites for herself and the First Family: P18,000@, or total P36,000 a day. Spokesmen claim the hospital did not charge a cent. But how can we believe them, when they lie at every turn

first, the hayden kho sex video and now gloria macapagal arroyo’s breast implants! ano ba yan, puro sex na lang!

July 5, 2009 Leave a comment

oh, wait a minute — that bit about arroyo is not about sex. am i bad?

don’t blame me, it’s media’s fault. we have been inundated with countless minutes and inches of press coverage of the hayden kho sex video scandal that now  anything i read about certain body parts seem to automatically go to sex, specially when it comes to celebrities and gloria macapagal arroyo is a celebrity.

there have been many reactions to the information on the news that arroyo had breast augmentation. i have a set myself but it has been a pretty wild ride. how often do we hear that the president of the country has fake boobs?

this is what a malacanang spokesperson said about the reaction. she did not take it to breast heart.

As for the other details of her checkup, including the reported removal of leaking breast implants, Fajardo said these were very sensitive and private matters for the President and did not have to be disclosed.

She said the news that came out about the President’s Asian Hospital visit were disrespectful of her as a woman and of the position she represents.

“Sometimes it’s as if we forget that Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is still our President, the highest member of government and she is still representing the country,” Fajardo said.

“So we should be careful sometimes about the things we say because we should never forget that again, we are not just talking about Gloria Arroyo as a person, but also as President of this country,” she added.

“We should not make a big deal out of this. There is nothing to hide and I think the people can see for themselves the physical condition of the President when she goes out this Sunday,” Fajardo said.

first of all this whole thing became a controversy because malacanang was caught telling a lie. arroyo having breast implants and that they leaked on her and that was the reason she checked herself into the hospital was first reported by jarius bondoc. the press secretary cerge remonde denied the breast implant part.

the official reason they stated for checking herself into the Asian Hospital was for self-quarantine but it turned out tests were made and the report about the breast implant story. malacanang later on admitted these tests and the fact that arroyo did have breast implants in the 80s.

in other words, malacanang was caught lying! again! if they did not lie the first time, it would have been less of a problem and no smoke must have formed out of this.

the presidential spokesperson made a big deal about arroyo being president. that is precisely the reason why media and the people are all over on this. the public deserves to know exactly why is happening to it’s leader. we may not care too much about the titillating detail about the breast implant (really?) but we do like to know and we deserve to know her health. the people, specially the men, need to know if arroyo’s breast implant is threatening the health of the country’s president. it is the price one has to pat for being a very public person.

the sooner malacanang staff realize that gloria macapagal arroyo is not a private but a public person the better for all of us, including them. if they get that point, perhaps they will no longer find the need to tell a lie to the people.

now after writing this, what is that link again for the hayden kho sex videos?
