NPC to pick bet on Sept 29

MANILA – The Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) will announce their bets for the 2010 presidential elections in October, Senator Loren Legarda said on Wednesday.

Legarda and Senator Francis Escudero are the NPC’s top bets for the 2010 polls, but she said a Legarda-Escudero tandem is “almost sure.”

The NPC meeting was rescheduled to September 29, originally scheduled for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Legarda said she is not bothered by the number of celebrities endorsing Sen. Benigno Aquino III.

She said that despite the draw of celebrities towards Aquino, she is already a veteran politician, and since she has been through several campaigns, she said she has won and can win without the help of any celebrity.

“Di ko minamaliit ang mga celebrities dahil siguro meron din namang mag-eendorse sa amin… pero ang tao ngayon, ang concern nila ay ang kalunasan sa gutom,” she said.
