First Posted 02:25:00 08/27/2009MANILA, Philippines—The group that convinced Corazon Aquino to run for president in the 1986 snap election called by dictator
Ferdinand Marcos has embarked on a similar campaign.
The group is seeking to gather more than a million signatures to encourage the late former President’s only son, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, to also run for president. This time, the campaign’s prime mover is Edgardo Roces, a son of Joaquin “Chino” Roces, the newspaper publisher who began a signature campaign called Cory Aquino for President Movement 24 years ago.

He is one of the purest politician. No doubt about it.
But, I therefore believe that it is not the right time for Him yet.
Let him have another term as a Senator,
then, after 6 years- will be long enough
for Him to be prepared mentally and emotionally.
He has all the characteristic of becoming a Great Leader.
He needed more time…
Perhaps, it would be best for him to settle down first,
six years will be more than enough for him to do so.
Being a family man, will broaden his experience and understanding.
It will be a testing ground for him,
as the next Father of the NATION.
To truly comprehend the need of it’s people.
Respectfully yours,
Arlene Ramos Alvarez
isn’t a “purest politician” someone this country needs the most at this time? should the country wait for 6 more years when we need someone like that right now?
6 years might be too late not only for the country but also for noynoy. it is now that the cory magic is strong, it might disappear 6 years from now.
If ever he decided to run for President, by all means I will support and vote for Him.
Just because the Senator is the son of two figures important in history and the brother of a TV personality does not mean he will be a good President. I am not saying he is a bad man but you really cannot and rather should not judge people’s ability to lead just because of their lineage.
The Senator has yet to show what he can do. To be honest, most people are still not aware of what Noynoy has done so far.
I would still want to see his platform for presidency.
It will be a humongous challenge for one person’s character.
Isang hamon na kaylangang tugunan.
Ng buong tapang at paninindigan.
The most important Character of Noynoy is that He is not corrupt.
To test this:
Iluluklok sya ng sambayanan
as the most powerful man of our Country.
still to be seen.
tayo ay magmamatyag.
But I have Faith in him. I know that his lineage is more than enough reminder for Him to be as honest as he can be.
His parents legacy is his light and guidance to lead our Country for a better Philippines.
—————————————————–
I do respect other people’s belief and religion.
But I think the main problem of our country is-
there is no genuine concern on how to resolve the human population explosion.
That is the main problem of our country.
To resolve poverty, Our Law should be tough,
The Church should be separated from the state, when it comes to implementation of the law.
Why?
many people are living below poverty level?
THE GOVERNMENT MUST DO SOMETHING NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE:
cycle lng kase kahit mag create ng gaano mang karaming work, kung sobra sobra dami ng tao, ganun parin. janitor nga kelangan pa hayskul grad. tapos kahit college grad ka hirap parin humanap ng work sa dami ng kakumpetensya, tapos may age limit pa, pano ung mga contractual lng na walang permanenteng trabaho darating ang panahon over age na sila.
We should tackle this issue for once, hindi pwedeng ang sanggol ay biyaya etc. etc., oo biyaya kung kayang suportahan.

Hey Noynoy hintayin mo nalang na mag-people power para ikaw ang ilagay diyan. Hindi ka mananalo sa tindi ng magiging dayaan ngayon.
too early, i think he should have another term as a senator.
You can laugh at me and even call me crazy, but the Aquino who has the mental fortitude to be President someday is NOT Noynoy, but Kris Aquino. If she will she already said, simplify her life and mature considerably- she may become one day the “One”.
Noynoy is not a trapo and I admire his way of doing things without grabbing the spotlight like many of our politicians. I think he will be a good president but i would like him to maybe start first with being a vice president so that he will have the experience of being a co-runner of the country. It is a humongous responsibility to govern a country. I think if he seeks the VP post, he’ll see what he will need to do for his run for president. Whether he will do much better as a family man is debatable. Cory did well as a single mom, Gloria is as corrupt as other presidents who are family men. Just because they are family men didn’t stop them from corruption and greed.Whatever Noynoy decides, i will support him because i know he will try his best to govern the country the way he thinks is best, sans the corruption and lawlessness. I hope he runs with Mar or Chiz or Kiko, those are the only ones i trust. The others can all go to hell, like i care, coz they are greedy,self-serving and corrupt people who hsve no respect at all to the oath they have taken!
Why should he run? What has he accomplished so far as a ongressman and a Senator? What make hi think that he is qualified to run for President or VP? Is he assuming that the sympathy for his beloved late mother plus the star power of his degenerate sister would bring inthe votes for him?
IMHO, if Noy does run for a higher office then he is just taking advantage of the situation. He may get sympathy votes plus the votes mustered by his sister but then what will he do when he gets elected? He hasn’t done much as a congressman, his performance as a senator is so-so? What can we expect from this man if he indeed win the presidency?
I would take the risk of voting for someone who is young, HONEST, idealistic and someone who will continue the legacy left behind by two outstanding political figures this country ever had. I do believe that Noynoy will be one dynamic political leader with his personal experience, which molded his strong political will of making this country great again. If a politician who was imprisoned was able to move his countrymen to go against a dictator ONLY at his time of death; and if a plain housewife who was voted to run a country with so much ILLNESS was able to bring integrity back to the Philippine political field, why can’t a young man who had all these in him cannot be president?
Like everyone else there is NONE of those running for president, and NONE in the senate and congress (and I really hope I’m wrong) is capable to be HONEST to his countymen and his land of birth. NO ONE except Noynoy.
Popularity mas translate into votes, but still teh question is his qualifications. Ok, his mother was jus a “plain housewife” when she assumed the presidency, but COry is brought to pwer by a peaceful revolution. Anybody else who is a centerpiece of such a phenom (even if it happens to be a child or even a cat) would surely be installed a President because he/she/it symbolizes the success of the revolution.
What we have now is different, we are at an ebb. We have now a very formidable, corrupt, oppotunistic, callous and deluded president who is on survival ode. GMA would like her oponents not to unite anbd field in as much as candidates as they can so the vote will be fragmented. It is to her favor if Noy does still decide to run for President.
An unsolicited advice to Noy, you may mean well but please find it within yourself if you are really qualified to be President. Your popularity now alone is not and should not be the prime consideration and reason. You know your capabilities, your aware why you have come this far in the political game, you know what you have really accmplished so far in being a former Congressman and now as a neophyte Senator. Please don’t tarnish your parents legacy by giving in to personal ambition. It is not yet your time, you should let others who are as well-intentioned but are more capable that you are to run instead. You should just use your popularity now to help ensure that an election fro the Prsidency will really take palce, tajt there will be no success for Cha-Cha ever and that real democracy will be attained by all.
PGMA is so stupid to say that Noynoy should run on his own merit. Palibhasa, wala siyang (PGMA) merit at all!!!! Everyone should take advantage of situations that will help push their candidacy. Now is the time for Noynoy to run while the issue of his parents are hot and not fresh in the mind of the youth. They used Ninoy’s death to push Cory’s candidacy and there’s nothing wrong about that. Go Noynoy, use whatever you can to push your candidacy. At kelan ka ba kakandidato, kung nakalimutan na ng pinoy ang ginawang mabuti ng parents mo??? im a big fan of Cory and cried everyday of her wake and funeral. i dont even know her. but i appreciate what she did for us and thankful meron pa ding katulad niya. Go Noynoy!!!! and then ikaw na magpatayo ng statue ni Cory when you’re VP na. baka pangit pa gawing statue ng bulinggit na yan.
i agree completely on arroyo not having any merit at all.
Noynoy’s performance in the Senate is still less than exemplary. He should exert more effort in crafting legislations of national importance. The senate is the best training ground for those seeking the post of presidency.
I admire Sen. Noynoy and surely he will carry on his parents dream for our country.
However, he must have his own stand as a person as well as politician, something unique yet shared from his parents.
One more thing before I’ll make a decision to vote for Sen. Noynoy. Can he unify ALL the Presidential wannabees from the opposition? If this happens like that of his parents in 1975 (Ninoy) and Cory (1986), then thats a sign that he has a mark of a true leader, that he can unify the opposition, he can also unify the nation.
if ever Gov. Panlilio, Bro. Eddie V and Bro. Mike Velarde decided not to run and endorse NOYNOY now, then it would be a landslide victory for him, if ever he runs for President.
un fortunately i do not think panlilio, villanueva and velarde will get a lot of votes. they will have little impact on noynoy.
to me, the strongest quality of both his parents were their unquestionable integrity. and this, i think, is what the country needs in our future leader. we have had far too many selfish leaders in a row with nothing but their personal enrichment as their main agenda.
but though i believe that ninoy and cory would have raised their only son to have the same values they do, i just can’t shake off the feeling that a move to run for any of the two top positions at this point just feels a little opportunistic. and if only for that, i would rather he practiced prudence and leave his reputation untarnished and his intentions unquestioned.
granted his mother was in a similar situation. but similar is not identical. and the question to be answered is if the country has the luxury of waiting for another six years?
my personal point of view is that even in the senate, he will be in a position where he can do the greatest of good. he will have the opportunity to bring his programs and his vision to the limelight and to reality with the nation backing him up and keeping an eye on the heir to the throne. by so doing, he can establish his own credentials and win on his own merit.
if he so decides, i will bank on his parents’ ability to have raised a potentially great and respectable man in noynoy and support him. but i am essentially voting for cory ike i did 23 years ago. not for noynoy.
as we are experiencing now, having the best senate in place is no guarantee for real reform and improvment. the fact is the executive branch, the presidency in particular has the most influence on our national life for better or for bad. as we are experiencing now, it is for bad.
i honestly believe he shouldnt run for pres or vp. he is not for that (yet). the outpouring of sympathies is for cory not for him, it cannot be translated into votes. nakita nyo naman, senador pa lang ung tinakbo dati e mejo nag panic na ang family kc noynoy is not for politics. maybe he is kind, maybe he cares for the filipino people.. but we all know it take more than kindness and caring to qualify somebody for the highest position (or even for vp). he does not have the stomach for that.. believe me.
i believe in him as a person perohanggang dun lang po..he is yet to prove his worth as a national leader.. in his heart alam nya yun kaya yung mga nagsusulsol ke noynoy… stop it pls… thanks.. PEACE.
Realistically NoyNoy is NOT yet ready to run for the highest position of our land. He will be a really Big boost and Help to Mar Roxas presidential bid which is now floundering and in the crossroads. A Mar Roxas- Noy Noy Aquino tandem will definitely energize the anemic showing in the polls of the Liberal Party’s standard bearer. Noy Noy will definitely infuse raw talent, honesty, idealism & Patriotism in the Liberal Party as it’s Vice Presidential bet. If the Noy Noy Aquino for Vice President Movement takes root on the Goodwill and outpouring of Mass sympathy and rabid support that the Late President Corazon C. Aquino has wrought on her recent demise, it will ultimately Re-energize,Revive, Re-activate and Awaken all of the most rabid & Loyal CORY & Ninoy Aquino supporters irregardless of Party Loyalty,Age,Creed,Social status, Precint,Province in the span of the entire Philippine archipelago and RALLY behind their only Son & Heir apparent to lead our country as Vice President of the Liberal Party in tandem with Mar Roxas as it’s standard bearer. The Old Cory Organizations which is just waiting for the right time and right person will definitely go all-out in support for the Roxas-Aquino team in the 2010 elections. It will electrify the Rabid, Fanatical and Dormant Cory Supporters and awaken them in their long stupor and finally vent all their energies,Resources, clout, Financial backing and Patronage to the Liberal Party’s Dream team for 2010. We, all the Loyal Fanatics of Ninoy & Cory Aquino, is just waiting for the time to come. Now is the time!
Being a member of a political family does not guarantee a person is qualified for any office. I am not in favor of this and I think he and his family and other long-standing politicos and their families should get out of the way and give way to a new tide of people who may do something really much better for this country.
noynoy aquino is not only a member of a political family, he is also a senator elected by the people into office. noynoy is also a member of a batch of young and a new generation of polticians.
there is great benefit in being the son of cory and ninoy aquino whole ideals we all admire and whose sacrifices have benefited the country. being the off-spring of such parents can mean a lot.
We might be getting the wrong signals again. I admire Senator Noynoy Aquino and he must indeed run again. My suggestion is that he runs as a Vice President and for a change really start a reform of the politics in our country together with other reform candidates. What we need is not only a personality like him but someone who has plans and when I said plans concrete and systemic plans to make our country better.
Noynoy and Nick should join hands as well as Padaca and Panlilio… kasama na sina Robredo, Villanueva at iba pa… Panahon na ng pagkakaisa para sa aitng bayan.
noynoy aquino should run for vice president first cause being a president is a big responsibility.
Noynoy for President?! You all must be joking. I believe in Cory. I believe in Benigno. But I don’t believe in Noynoy specially in Kris Aquino.
noynoy is not yet up for re-election as senator. he still has ’til 2011 or 2012 i think.
on my opinion, he won’t be talked about having himself as a VP or P if Cory didn’t die.
by the way, here is my opinion about this issue.

People dont know what he has done as a lawmaker, though i give him utmost respect since he has contemplated really long before making any announcements for 2010, even meeting up with his spiritual advisors. Not jumping in at once, even if people have pushed him.
Mar Roxas has given in, and if ever noynoy decides to run, i’ll vote for him since he’s the best hope we’ve got!
Noli – might be aother GMA
Villar – quietly corrupt til his real esate corrupt practices were revealed
BF – has political will though twisted, MMDA traffic enforcement sucks!
Jamby – hahahaha!
Legarda – hehehehe
Bro eddie v. & mike velarde – don’t mix state with church
